Peek at the Week

Happy Veteran's Day!
We celebrated Veteran's Day with a special morning message. We discussed the importance of the men and women who have served our country and those who are still serving our country.  We read a book called Veteran's Day as we colored the pictures with accurate colors and discussed whether they were in the army, navy, marines, etc.
We thank all of the veterans who have fought for our freedom so that we are able to come to school each day!

Students participated in workstations around the room.

Students got to use monster eyes to help them point to each word as they read a book about monsters.

We counted Thanksgiving pictures and made tallies to show how many we counted.

We learned these popcorn words this week:  we go is
Students hunted for popcorn words in our morning message.

We were excited to have 2 visitors in our class on Thursday!  We welcomed Ally St. Pierre and Danielle Ingram, seniors from Floyd County High School who also attended Check Elementary School.  They shadowed us for the day and helped us out with all of our activities.  We wish the two of you lots of luck in your future endeavors!

Students enjoyed matching pictures to beginning sounds  and writing sight words on the Smart Board.

We learned all about living back then and living now. We explored the way people lived long ago, what they wore, tools they used, and how they traveled.  We also compared those things with the way people live today.

We love our class bunny rabbit, Lucky!

Dawson Erchull was the first student in the class to bring in 25 boxtops!  He got to feed the boxtop monster and receive a lollipop!  Students are working hard to collect 25 boxtops and bring them to school.  Each boxtop is worth 10 cents for our school.

We continue the month of November with thankful hearts!
