Goodbye October...Hello November!

We enjoyed popcorn, pretzels, and suckers.

Students went on a hunt around the room looking for sight word ghosts to read and write.

We had a special visit from a group of 3rd graders.  They read to us There Was an Old Lady Who Wasn't Afraid of Anything.

In guided reading groups we worked hard as we mixed and fixed sight words and practiced writing the words.

Students read repetitive patterned books pointing to each word.  Students began taking reading bags home this week so they could read their books to their families.

Students learned how to make tally marks.  They played "Count the Tallies" with a partner.

The SmartBoard was introduced in workstations.  Students practiced matching pictures to their beginning sounds.

We experimented with magnets around the room to find out which objects were magnetic and non-magnetic.

Magnet Fun

Students made a magnet craft by sorting pictures of magnetic and non-magnetic objects.

We wished Mrs. Holman a Happy Birthday!  Students danced around as the birthday bear sang to her.

We welcomed November with a new calendar book.  We are excited about having more thankful hearts this month!

Students followed step by step directions to draw a mystery picture.  When they had completed each step, the turkey was revealed!  Also students and their families worked together on a homework project to decorate a feather for our Kindergarten turkeys.  Here's how they turned out!

Mrs. Thomas' Kindercalves  have been mooing, "Eat more turkey!"
