Students got to visit the other Kindergarten classroom and the 1st grade classrooms to participate in fun 100th day activities!

| We celebrated Martin Luther King Jr.'s dream for all people to be treated equally. |

| Mrs. Williams, the county Reading Specialist, visited our classroom and read us a story. She also helped us think of a BIG idea that would help us make the world a better place. Students enjoyed listening to her read and also drawing a picture of their BIG idea and writing about it. |

We learned about fractions in math by turning shapes into foods and sharing them with our friends to create equal parts.

| Students were super excited to finally get to go outside! I think us teachers were even more excited to let them!!!! |

| Students did an ice experiment to see how long it would take to get their ice cube to melt. Their favorite activity was dropping it down their shirts. Needless to say, our classroom got a little loud with this chilly experimenting going on! |

We have 3 Kindergarten students at Check Elementary School that share the exact same birthday!
They were born on January 13, 2011.

| We finished up the week with a Pancake Party to review solids, liquids, gases, & fractions! Students had to cut their pancakes to show halves and fourths before they could eat them. |

| They also had to tell me if the ingredients were solids, liquids, or gases as we cooked together. |

| Students wondered if Jingle the Elf took Lucky to the North Pole to spend Christmas.....I overheard one student fussing at the elf and telling him he was a bad, bad elf because he stole our rabbit without permission. Then overheard a student at lunch tell another student that Santa might turn Lucky into a stuffed rabbit and give her to someone for Christmas! Such imaginations! Needless to say, they were glad that didn't happen! |
