Merry Christmas!

Students made handprint wreaths for their families. 

Students did a fantastic job decorating their candy houses!

We rode the imaginary Polar Express train and enjoyed chocolate milk & cupcakes.  Then each student received their own bell to ring.

 

We watched the movie and read the book The Polar Express.

I feel so blessed and so very grateful for such kind and caring students, parents, and teacher friends!

We had a surprise assembly for Mrs. Lovitt, our Librarian  to honor her and all she has done for us at CES.  Happy Retirement Mrs. Lovitt!  We will miss you!

Christmas Program and Gingerbread Day

Students did a wonderful job singing songs at the PTO program!

GINGERBREAD DAY!

Mrs. Janney, our art teacher and Luke's mother helped us make cookies with gingerbread playdoh.

Mrs. Altis, Kalyan's grandmother helped us decorate ornaments with glitter.

Mrs. Lambert and Mrs. Underwood helped us decorate gingerbread man cookies to eat.

Mrs. Morisco, Jonathan's grandmother, Mrs. Erchull, Dawson's mother, Mrs. Whitlock, Holly's mother, and Arianna's mother helped us make candy houses.

Mrs. Shaver, our PE teacher read Christmas stories to us.

Counting down to Christmas!

Students finished decorating the tree with their Santa and Rudolph pictures.

We did different directed drawings where students had to follow step by step directions to create a mystery picture. 

The directed drawings of Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer turned out much better than those of Santa Claus. Shhhhh.....Santa doesn't have to know that!   

Students did a creative job decorating gingerbread people with their families.

Students mixed and fixed the letters to make this week's sight word:  said

We went to Radford University along with 1st and 2nd grade to see the play, Junie B. Jones, Jingle Bells, Batman Smells.

Students were able to meet the cast and give them high 5's.

Jingle, our elf and Twinkle Mrs. Craighead's elf were spotted playing with the Legos on Friday morning. 

We read different versions of  The Gingerbread Man and then students created  their own gingerbread person.

Jingle, our class elf brought us candy canes straight from the North Pole!  They were so delicious that students began changing colors!

We have been working really hard practicing for our PTO program!   We hope you can join us for our Christmas performance on Tuesday at 7:00!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas in Kindergarten! 

We built 2 dimensional shapes using marshmallows and toothpicks. 

Students worked hard at workstations around the room.

We made different shapes using straw segments.  Students realized it was difficult to create a circle and oval because they both have 0 sides.

Students made shape Christmas trees.  They learned that they could glue on their shape ornaments in any position and they would still remain the same shape. 

We had a special delivery from the North Pole!  We welcomed one of Santa's little elves to our classroom.  Students voted on a name for him.  They named him Jingle.

Mrs. Thomas' Kinder-calves turned into Kinder-elves this week! 

Students enjoyed indoor recess on the rainy days. 

Jingle the elf came back on Friday morning from reporting to Santa the night before.  We found him taking a ride on the Christmas goose and coloring in his elf coloring book.

Students trimmed the tree with ornaments they made.

We've been working really hard on reading and writing in reading groups this week!  Students read a book about Rudolph and the things that he can do. 

 Students made 2-dimensional shapes using pieces of yarn.  They measured the yarn to fit each side of their shape.
